Vibration and Temperature of Spherical Roller Bearings


As an important part of machinery, the work efficiency of spherical roller bearings will directly affect the use of mechanical equipment. You may know that under normal circumstances, vibration and temperature will affect the work of spherical roller bearings to a certain extent. 1. The effect of vibration on spherical roller bearings

In normal use, vibration is very sensitive to bearing damage, peeling, indentation, rust, cracks, wear, etc. will be reflected in the bearing vibration measurement. Therefore, by using a special bearing vibration measuring device (frequency analyzer, etc.), the magnitude of the vibration can be measured, and the specific abnormality can be inferred from the frequency distribution. The measured value is different due to the use condition of the bearing or the installation position of the sensor, so it is necessary to analyze and compare the measured value of each machine in advance to determine the judgment standard.Under normal circumstances, when the bearing is in motion, four conditions will be displayed, namely, normal bearing vibration, fixed outer ring vibration with damage point, rotating inner ring vibration with damage point, and rolling element vibration with damage point.  Today , we share CA type spherical roller bearings 22217 CA/W33 .

(1) Vibration of normal spherical roller bearings

The time-domain vibration waveform of a normal bearing has no shock spikes, no high-frequency changes, messy, and irregular.


(2) Vibration of damaged points on the fixed outer ring

If the direction of the load does not change, the relative positional relationship between the damage point and the load is fixed, and each collision has the same strength.


(3) Vibration of damaged points on the rotating inner ring

If the direction of the load does not change, when the inner ring of the spherical roller bearing rotates, the relative positional relationship between the damage point and the load changes periodically. Each collision has a different intensity, and the vibration amplitude changes periodically, showing an amplitude modulation phenomenon. The period depends on the frequency of the inner ring.


(4) The rolling element has vibration at the damaged point

If the direction of the load does not change, when there is a damage point on the rolling element, the vibration will be similar to the damage point on the inner ring, and the vibration amplitude will change periodically, and the period depends on the revolution frequency of the rolling element. Today , we share CA type spherical roller bearings 22217 CAK/W33 .

2. The effect of temperature on the spherical roller bearings

High temperature often indicates that the spherical roller bearing is in an abnormal condition. High temperature is also harmful to the lubricant of the bearing. Sometimes bearing overheating can be attributed to the lubricant of the bearing. Long-term continuous rotation of bearings at temperatures exceeding 125°C will reduce bearing life. Causes of high temperature bearings include: insufficient or excessive lubrication, lubricants. Containing impurities, excessive load, bearing damage, insufficient clearance, and high friction caused by oil seals, etc.In the process of using spherical roller bearings, the temperature rise is easy to occur. When the bearing temperature rises, first judge whether it is misoperation. If it does rise, the following treatments should be done:


(1) Check whether the cooling water pressure, water flow and piping system are normal. If the water pressure is low, it may be that the filter is clogged. When it cannot be processed in time, it can be shut down for processing. When it is confirmed that it can work, it can be put into use.


(2) Check the oil pressure of the governor. If the oil pressure is low, the cooling water hydraulic valve may close.


(3) Check whether the bearing has abnormal noise, and check whether the bearing swing is abnormal.


(4) Take an oil sample to observe whether the oil color has changed, and conduct a laboratory test to see whether it has deteriorated. If the deterioration is confirmed, stop the machine and replace with new oil.


(5) Check whether the oil level of the oil level is normal. If it is abnormal, check whether the oil tank drain valve is closed tightly. If it is closed tightly, oil should be refilled; if the sealant is leaking oil, it should be shut down for processing.


Therefore, it is necessary to continuously monitor the temperature of spherical roller bearings, whether it is to measure the bearing itself or other important parts. If the operating conditions remain unchanged, any temperature change can indicate that a malfunction has occurred.
