The two kinds of bearings have their own characteristics in structure and advantages and disadvantages in performance. 1. Comparison of structure and movement mode

The most obvious difference between rolling bearings and sliding bearings is whether there is a rolling body.

The rolling bearing has a rolling body (ball, cylindrical roller, tapered roller, needle roller), which rotates to support the rotating shaft, so the contact part is a point, the more the rolling body, the more the contact point.

Plain bearings have no rolling body and rely on a smooth surface to support the rotating shaft, so the contact part is a surface.

2. Comparison of carrying capacity

In general, due to the large pressure bearing area of sliding bearings, their bearing capacity is generally higher than that of rolling bearings, and the ability of rolling bearings to bear impact load is not high, but completely liquid lubricated bearings can bear large impact load because of the lubricating oil film buffering and vibration absorption. When the speed is high, the centrifugal force of the rolling body in the rolling bearing increases, so its carrying capacity should be reduced (noise is easy to occur at high speed). For dynamic pressure sliding bearings, the bearing capacity increases with the increase of speed.

3. Comparison of friction coefficient and starting friction resistance

Under general working conditions, the friction coefficient of rolling bearing is lower than that of sliding bearing, and its value is relatively stable. The lubrication of sliding bearing is easily affected by external factors such as speed and vibration, and the friction coefficient varies in a large range.

When starting, because the sliding bearing has not formed a stable oil film, the resistance is greater than that of the rolling bearing, but the starting friction resistance and working friction coefficient of the hydrostatic sliding bearing are very small.

4. Suitable for working speed comparison

Because the rolling bearing is limited by the centrifugal force of the rolling body and the temperature rise of the bearing, the speed of the rolling bearing can not be too high. It is generally suitable for medium and low-speed working states. Because of the heat and wear of incomplete liquid lubricated bearings, the working speed can not be too high. The high-speed performance of fully liquid lubricated bearings is very good, especially when the hydrostatic sliding bearings use air as a lubricant, their speed can reach 100000r/min.

5. Comparison of power loss

Because of the small friction coefficient of rolling bearings, the power loss is generally not large, less than incomplete liquid lubrication bearings, but when the lubrication and improper installation will increase dramatically. The frictional power loss of fully liquid lubricated bearings is relatively low, but for hydrostatic sliding bearings, the total power loss may be higher than that of dynamic sliding bearings due to the power loss of the oil pump.

6. Rotation accuracy comparison

Because of the small radial clearance, the rotating accuracy of rolling bearings is generally high. The incomplete liquid lubricated bearing is in the state of boundary lubrication or mixed lubrication, and the operation is unstable, and the wear is serious, and the accuracy is low. 7. Other aspects of comparison

Rolling bearings use oil, fat, or solid lubricant, the amount is very small, the amount is large at high speed, the cleanliness of the oil is high, so it requires sealing, but the bearing is convenient to replace, and there is generally no need to repair the journal. For sliding bearings, in addition to incomplete liquid lubrication bearings, lubricants are generally liquid or gas, the amount is very large, the oil cleanliness is also very high, the bearing bush needs to be replaced often, and sometimes the journal is repaired.
