Definition of spherical roller bearings: The rolling elements are spherical bearings with spherical rollers.

Spherical roller bearings have two rows of rollers, which mainly bear radial loads and can also withstand axial loads in either direction. There is a universal spherical raceway in the outer ring. The two inner ring raceways are inclined at an angle to the bearing center. The bearing is self-centering, so it is not affected by the misalignment of the shaft relative to the bearing housing and the deflection of the shaft. In addition to radial loads, bearings can accommodate axial loads acting in two directions.

With high radial load capacity, it is especially suitable for work under heavy load or vibration load, but can not bear pure axial load. The raceway of the outer ring of this type of bearing is spherical, so its self-aligning performance is good, and it can compensate the coaxiality error.

Spherical roller bearings can carry moderate axial loads and large radial loads in both directions.

There are two rows of symmetrical spherical rollers. The outer ring has a common spherical raceway. The inner ring has two raceways inclined at an angle to the bearing axis. It has good self-aligning performance. When the shaft is bent or installed out of center The bearing can still be used normally. The self-alignment varies with the bearing size series. Generally, the allowable self-aligning angle is 1~2.5 degrees. The load capacity of this type of bearing is large. Spherical roller bearings can accommodate misalignment from 1 to 2.5. The maximum application misalignment is limited by the layout of the seals and the housing, rather than the bearing centring ability. SRB's misalignment adjustment capability is fifty times higher than other bearings.

The inner hole of the cone is convenient for installation on the cone journal or sleeve. Spherical roller bearing applications include paper machines, continuous casting machines in steel mills, vibrating screens in sand and gravel plants, coal mine equipment and heavy duty fans and blowers.

Minimum load

All ball bearings and roller bearings must carry a minimum load to ensure normal operation. This also applies to spherical roller bearings. Especially in high-speed operation, the inertial force of the roller and the cage and the friction of the lubricant are the determinants of the rolling conditions of the bearing, which may cause a damaged sliding movement between the roller and the raceway.

If a spherical roller bearing with an adapter sleeve is installed on a smooth shaft without a fixed support, the amount of axial load that can be supported is determined by the friction between the shaft and the sleeve.

Spherical roller bearing installation

Spherical roller bearings are equipped with drum roller bearings between the inner ring with two raceways and the outer ring with spherical raceways. The center of curvature of the raceway surface of the outer ring is consistent with the center of the bearing, so it has the same self-aligning function as the self-aligning ball bearing. When the shaft and casing deflect, the load and the axial load in two directions can be adjusted automatically. The radial load capacity is large, suitable for heavy load and impact load. The inner diameter of the inner ring is a tapered bore bearing, which can be installed directly. Or use an adapter sleeve and a dismounting cylinder to install on the cylindrical shaft. For self-aligning bearings, when installing a bearing with a shaft into the shaft hole of the case, the use of an intermediate mounting ring prevents the outer ring from tilting and rotating. It should be remembered that the balls of some sizes of self-aligning ball bearings protrude from the sides of the bearings, so the middle mounting ring should be recessed to prevent damage to the balls. A large number of bearings are generally installed using mechanical or hydraulic press-in methods.

For separable bearings, the inner ring and outer ring can be installed separately, which simplifies the installation process, especially when the inner and outer rings need to be interference fit. When installing the shaft with the inner ring in place into the bearing box that already contains the outer ring, care must be taken to see if the inner and outer rings are properly aligned to avoid scratching the bearing raceway and rolling parts. If cylindrical and needle roller bearings use an inner ring without flange ribs or an inner ring with a flange on one side, it is recommended to use a mounting sleeve. The outer diameter of the sleeve should be equal to the diameter F of the inner ring raceway, and the tolerance standard for mechanical processing should be d10. Drawn cup needle roller bearings are best installed using mandrels.
