Design and installation of thrust tapered roller bearings

Thrust tapered roller bearings can form a very compact axial bearing arrangement. Such bearings can withstand heavy axial loads, are insensitive to impact loads, and have good strength. WSBC manufactures one-way thrust tapered roller bearings and two-way tapered roller thrust bearings. The screw-fixed bearing constitutes a specially designed one-way tapered roller thrust bearing. This type of bearing is used in rolling mill screw fixed bearing arrangements. The WSBC thrust tapered roller bearing has a logarithmic contact profile between the raceway and the roller to ensure the best stress distribution in the bearing, thereby extending the bearing life.

The WSBC thrust tapered roller bearing with a cage is a separate design so that the two washers and the roller and cage thrust components can be easily installed separately. The full roller screw fixed bearing is fixed together by particular positioning parts. To simplify the operation, the washer has threaded holes for lifting bolts. See the following introduction:

1. Miniature one-way thrust tapered roller bearings are almost entirely used in knuckle bearing arrangements for commercial vehicles. This bearing has full rollers and is fixed with a thin steel cover. Most of these bearings are equipped with wear-resistant, oil-resistant nitrile rubber (NBR) friction seals. This bearing uses multi-purpose grease for lifetime lubrication and requires no maintenance. There are many designs; the only difference is the design of the bearing housing race and bearing housing. Larger one-way bearing washers are manufactured differently. Some bearing washers have the same dimensions as the bearing housing ring, while others have different designs. The machines with the same size coaxial and bearing housing raceways have a tapered raceway and a retaining rib. Bearings of this design are often used in applications that need to withstand large axial loads. They are generally used on drilling equipment turntables or crane hooks. This bearing has a cage and is positioned by two washers. The shaft washers of other designed bearings have tapered raceways and positioning ribs, while the bearing housing races are flat. Therefore, the bearing of this design can accept the slight eccentricity of the shaft relative to the bearing box hole without adversely affecting the bearing performance. Except for several sizes with full rollers, this bearing has a cage that is concentric with the rollers.

2. Two-way thrust tapered roller bearings are mainly used in rolling mills with multiple rows of cylindrical roller bearings. This type of bearing with a flat shaft washer is more popular because it can withstand a slight eccentricity of the shaft with respect to the bearing box bore and a small change in the radial internal clearance used by the radial bearing. A spacer sleeve is arranged between the two bearing housing races. The size of the spacer sleeve allows the roller bearing box cover screws to be fully tightened, and the bearings do not require individual springs for adjustment. Double-direction tapered roller thrust bearings with tapered raceways on the shaft and bearing housing raceways. Generally, it has a higher axial load-bearing capacity than bearings with flat shaft races, and it can position the shaft radially to a certain extent. If the required service life is taken into consideration, a double-row tapered roller bearing with a large contact angle can be used when the load-bearing capacity of this bearing is insufficient. Because the two-way thrust tapered roller bearing is usually installed on the roll journal and the roll bearing box with a loose fit, most bearing shaft races have one or two positioning grooves. This makes it possible to use a key or the like embedded in the positioning groove to prevent the shaft race from rotating on the shaft.


3. This type of thrust tapered roller bearing must be able to withstand extreme axial loads and allow angular displacement of the threaded shaft relative to the bearing. Therefore, this type of bearing is usually a full-roller type with large-diameter and extra-long rollers. In order to withstand the misalignment of the roller bearing housing without adversely affecting the bearing performance, this bearing has a spherical race. The seat ring may be a shaft seat ring or a bearing box seat ring. In bearings with a spherical shaft race on the roller set between the spherical shaft race and the corresponding concave spherical threaded shaft or pressure baffle, the necessary centering offset will occur. WSBC can also supply the above pressure baffles. When the bearing case race is spherical, the centering offset is borne by the roller set between the bearing case race and the pressure baffle. The pressure baffle of this bearing is usually supplied with the bearing.
